Charlotte Whalley Selected for Team Wales at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games

Charlotte Whalley is confirmed in our Glasgow 2026 team after the completion of International Weightlifting reallocation process

Weightlifting Wales is delighted to congratulate Charlotte Whalley on her selection for Team Wales at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

The announcement follows the completion of the international qualification, nomination and reallocation process, with Team Wales confirming Charlotte's place in the Welsh team for Glasgow 2026.

Charlotte earned her place through a series of strong performances during the qualification period, representing Wales at key international events, including the Commonwealth Championships, European Championships and the British International Open. Competing in the Women's 63kg category, she consistently improved her international ranking and achieved the required standard to secure a final qualification position.

Following the completion of the final athlete allocations across the Commonwealth, Charlotte moved into a confirmed qualification place and will now proudly represent Wales on one of the biggest sporting stages in the Commonwealth.

The selection is a significant milestone in Charlotte's weightlifting journey and recognition of the hard work, dedication and consistency she has shown throughout the qualification period.

Simon Roach, Chief Operating Officer of Weightlifting Wales, said:

"Congratulations to Charlotte on gaining selection for Team Wales at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

Throughout the qualification period, Charlotte represented Wales with distinction and delivered strong performances at every international opportunity.

The qualification process has been incredibly competitive and, to be in a position to benefit from the final reallocation process, you first have to earn that opportunity. Charlotte certainly did that, achieving the required international standard through her performances, consistency and dedication throughout the qualification period.

Everyone at Weightlifting Wales is incredibly proud of Charlotte, and we look forward to seeing her represent Wales on the Commonwealth stage."

Everyone at Weightlifting Wales would like to congratulate Charlotte, her coaches, family and support network on this fantastic achievement and wish her every success as she prepares for Glasgow 2026.
