Development Pathway
Development Pathway Review
Development Pathway Review
Our development programme is currently under review and Weightlifting Wales are working hard to build and implement an effective programme in which talented athletes can learn, develop and thrive.
Our approach involves the following:
- Thorough research including findings from a Bangor University based PhD study on Weightlifting in Wales and insight results from a variety of sports development pathways.
- Collaborations with other organisations to seek best practices including Sport Wales and Welsh Institute of Performance Science.
- Building stronger links with British Weight Lifting, collaborating and supporting each other to create a better pathway in Wales and with a clear route to the UK pathway.
- Modifying the competition calendar to support the talented Weightlifters in Wales
- Input from Weightlifting Wales members through surveys and interviews.
We want to ensure we uphold our vision of developing champions that perform consistently at major international competitions. The programme that we are working towards focuses on achieving this through an ethical, holistic, long-term approach that aims to develop the person as a whole.
